Social and Environmental Projects

Even been a small central size, a PCH requires some socio environmental programs and projects, that normally have the local communities as public target, that benefit with works of environmental education, recovery of degraded areas and other socio-environmental activities related.

The projects are conceived and developed in a way that the environment impacts of the implementation of enterprises are minimized and widely surpassed for the benefits – environment and socio economic– propitiated, to name a few:

  • Professional formation: in agreement with Public Power, through SESI/SENAI, professionalizing courses in the local communities for formation of carpenters, masons are carried through, welders, mechanics and others;
  • Investments in infrastructure, with improvements in the roads, nets of electric energy, communication and others;
  • Diversification in the local economic matrix;
  • Making the economy`s infrastructure stronger, contributing for the development of the region, by means of reduction of the production costs;
  • Stimulation to attract new economic activities, face to the trustworthy and guaranteed supply of electric energy;
  • Creation of direct and indirect jobs, using most of the local man power;
  • Replant the vegetation of the Areas of Permanent Preservation – APP, having the necessity of suppression of vegetation only in small areas for the wadding of the dams, in function of the characteristics of the PCHs;
  • income generation: collecting taxes and tributes;
  • Incentive actions to businesses, as an example the implementation of a Vegetable Garden in the Community of Serra da Prata, benefiting directly 12 families of the region (approximately 40 people), that besides having an assured monthly income they are stimulated to act in a market that presents great lack and excellent possibilities of growth.
