Environmental Management
Our activities are governed by a series of laws, decrees, regulations and federal, state and municipal resolutions relative to environmental management and to the protection of the environment. Irrespective of restoring environmental damage which may eventually be caused, failure to comply with the norms may result in the imposition of both penal and administrative sanctions.
The Federal Constitution gives the Federal Government, states, the Federal District and the municipalities the common responsibility of protecting the environment. The entities in the federation may enact laws and issue regulations on the protection of the environment on a concurrent basis. The federal legislation covers general issues while state legislation handles regional questions. The municipalities in turn have powers to make laws and issue regulations in relation to matters of local interest only.
